Savona’s Trattoria: Old World, Contemporary Dishes Meld And Everybody’s Happy

“Whenever you go, the atmosphere at Savona’s is relaxed, despite the restaurant being consistently busy. There’s a good reason for that: it’s a well-run ship with a warm staff but most importantly, the food is really, really good. The Italian comfort food menu is reverent to the old-world style cooking many customers grew up with but it is prepared with nuance and a presentation that keeps it in league with its regional peers. They also have gluten-free options for many dishes including pizzas — which can be difficult to do well with Italian cuisine — but they more than pull it off.”

“I have been here for lunch and dinner. Both of the times I have been here did not disappoint.

For lunch I got Fried Calamari and Chicken Marsala. I friend got the Lobster Ravioli which will not fill you up as there is only four raviolis served in this meal.

For dinner I got Shrimp Scampi. They tell you on the menu that there’s only five shrimps but they are jumbo sized shrimp which was not was I was expecting so that made me happy.

They serve you garlic bread with your food. Service both occasions I have no complaints. Definitely a great spot for a nice dinner with friends, date, family, etc.”

“Savona’s never disappoints! This new location is just as awesome as Kingston. Super friendly staff, great drinks and the food is always fresh with generous portions. Make sure you try the chicken sopressa and the pear martini YUM. The price is right and the atmosphere is upbeat. Red Hook location is gorgeous! Can’t wait for the warm weather for the beautiful outside dining area to open :)”

“I had a great time dining at Savona’s. I was a big fan of the previous establishment that was in their building, and I thought Savona’s has done a great job of making the space look nice. I had the Veal Milanese, which was a terrific salad. The service was also impeccable! Such a nice, attentive staff. I’ll definitely be dining here again.”
Anirudh H., Annandale-on-Hudson, NY

“Decided to try this new Italian restaurant out. I had the rigatoni bolognese, which was impeccable. The ambiance was beautiful, filled with flowers and candles. The service was wonderful, and the staff was super accommodating, jumping to help at any need! Can’t wait to return.”
Ellie Z., South Side, Chicago, IL

“Yummy. All was good. Eggplant parm with penne and it was . Wife had a salad and added shrimp vs chicken and she loved it. Buy the lunch special, you get salad or soup and a dessert. Cannoli are $$.”
Elan H., San Diego, CA

“Great dinner, started off with fresh mozzarella caprese and the mussels with sausage, delicious. Entrees we had the Scallops with risotto and the chicken marsala, fabulous. Definitely coming back.”
Dimitri L., Long Beach, NY

“We just made our third visit to the new Red Hook location on New Years Eve.
We were regulars at the Kingston location for years and were thrilled to see another location closer to home in Dutchess County.
We have never been disappointed, whether we go for lunch or dinner.
We are always warmly welcomed, seated and greeted by the wait staff.
The entree’s are always the best, I usually opt for any veal dish, they are so good that I have trouble choosing.
The recent NY Eve visit, I was initially disappointed to see a fixed menu, but Savona’s proved me wrong again. I had the pepperoni mozzarella Chicken over angel hair pasta. It was so amazing and more than ample portion that I plan on asking for it on our next visit. My wife had the Lasagna Bolnaise offered on the fixed menu and was equally pleased. Her favorite is usually the Soup de pece, her only note there is the staff should provide a separate bowl for all the discarded muscle shells. What does that tell you? There is an abundance of muscles! So it’s a good thing. Can’t end without touting the staff especially Lauren who served us NY Eve, given the crowd and the rush of the evening we did not have to look for her or wait for anything. Extremely attentive, and polite. Olivia is also one of our favorite servers for the same reasons. Coming from a former forty year business owner, these two girls are an huge asset to this fine establishment. Highly recommend Savona’s.”
Bud B., Stanfordville, NY

“We have been coming back to Savonas several more times since my last review; this place is solid. Consistently good food and service is pretty great too. Crab cake appetizer special with roasted red pepper aioli is excellent, and risotto is very good as well – very creamy with nice chunks of prosciutto that give it a salty and tasty flavor. Risotto not quite as good as Market St in Rhinebeck (the best I’ve ever had) but I really enjoy the risotto at Savona’s and I’ve had it three times now – twice with scallops and tonight with shrimp and lobster. Steak very good and my son had fried zucchini blossoms that he raved about. Other son had chicken parm with pepperoni that he also liked. Cannoli are also great. Wine portions healthy. Breadsticks yummy – very garlicky but good. Highly recommend stopping here for a good hearty meal at a reasonable price. Ambience very nice, trendy and hip. Enjoy!”
John S., Red Hook, NY

“Just had Easter Brunch there. The staff were all amazing and friendly (even getting my daughter a drink while we waited to be seated; I mistakenly got there too early so I really appreciated how helpful they were when I’m sure they still had plenty to do to get ready). The food was healthy, they had a wide variety, and I can’t stress this enough fantastic! I will certainly be back!!”

‘Had dinner today for the third time at Savona’s Restaurant in Red Hook and once again it did not disappoint. The food is fresh and amazingly delicious. A must try appetizer is the baked figs with gargonzola on a pile of fresh greens, dressed with lemon, draped with prosciutto. Amazing. Their burgers, garlic smothered steak and pasta have all proved to be a delight. Homemade cannoli, Attentive staff, all reasons we will return.”
Carol R.

“Excellent meal tonight. Bourbon Manhattan was ice cold and perfectly made. The mussels appetizer should be a permanent thing. This e mussels were some of the most tender and sweet mussels I have had in a long time. Veal Osso Buco was so tender and blended well with a very decent risotto. if I had the room I would have had several tiramisu….so good! Thank you for a decent sized cup of espresso! Glad to have Savonas on this side of the river.”
Paul R.

“Wonderful Valentine’s night, although the restaurant was very crowded staff were kind enough to get us a table without a reservation. The food was perfect, absolutely delicious and the wait staff for being so busy, were in great spirits. We got there early to have drinks at the bar, which was the best plan because it filled up very quickly. This was our third time there and it is my new favorite restaurant. Hard to please this Italian with Italian food in a restaurant, but you do!!!
Thank you all!!”
Marisa R.

“AMAZING! It was my birthday today and we decided to eat in as I am ill. My mother went down this afternoon with a LARGE order to be picked up at 8. She got there, was warmly greeted by owner who took the time to go over the order to make sure everything was right. He then gave her a free molten lava cake with a candle for my birthday. The food was superb. My best friend is still going on about how good the steak was! Everything was fantastic and perfect! I can’t wait to go back and try more of their food! Fabulous people, fabulous food, fair prices!”
Heather I.

“Another excellent experience! Friend & I enjoyed antipasto, Calamari & fig & cheese wood fired pizza. The tiramisu is to die for! Tell them Pat sent you!”

“Been there twice and can’t wait to get again. First time I got a burger and it was mouth watering. Second time time I got fried calamari 10/10 and the egg plant napoleon 11/10. The napoleon was amazing. As an entree I got the fig pizza and also amazing. Service was excellent and price was reasonable. Highly recommend”

“Firstly, having Savona’s in Red Hook is a great addition for our community. The food is amazing, the atmosphere, also great and every time I have been the service has been fantastic too. It’s also great to have a restaurant open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner in our town as well. Food brings people into our area, benefitting other stores in our community. Thank you to the Savona Family for investing in our town.”

“Met a friend for lunch here today, Red Hook is an hour from my house. One word… AMAZING! Service was excellent, quick and professional. I had a spinach risotto with salmon and it was perfect. Dessert was excellent and so was the capucinno. The place looks really beautiful and like there may be outdoor seating in the warmer months (guessing from looking around). I agree with the noise level being on the high side but that didn’t bother me at all. I will definitely be back here, it’s worth the drive to me and that’s saying a lot.”
Shana M.

“As a long time customer of Savona’s Kingston restaurants I was thrilled to try the new Red Hook Location. When we arrived, the place was mobbed. The owner of the restaurant was helping bus tables – a clear indication that he cares about the quality of service and the comfort of his customers. Our party of 5 was treated like royalty. Exceptional food and service. I predict this new restaurant will become a staple for the Italian food lovers in Northern Dutchess for years to come…”

“Longtime Kingston favorite, Savona’s Trattoria, now in Red Hook and immediately earning praise for their food, service and prices. The Kingston Savona’s always felt like the closest thing to Little Italy within 50 miles. Now we have that Mulberry Street feel right here in Red Hook. So far we’ve tried salads, pasta, chicken and everything was delicious. Stephen Savona brought everything we liked about his Kingston restaurant (even some of the staff) without the trip. What a great addition to the dining choices in town!”
